An hour before my friend Christine was coming over to make Cherry Almond Granola for our Breakfast Foods swap, I was really excited. I still hadn’t really heard about her trip to Spain and Morocco, we needed to talk about planning an auction later this month for a local hospital, and just needed to catch up on our lives.
Because we were making the granola in bulk, we multiplied everything by five. I set out five big bowls, one each for Christine, me, her daughter and my two daughters, and put a spoon in each.
The granola was delicious–especially with yogurt and fresh fruit! But, even more importantly, we had hours to talk, and talk and cook and cook, until my husband came home from work to a house smelling of heavenly food and buzzing with our five female voices. It was a lovely afternoon.
