On a recent hot afternoon, I stood with my two kids in a church basement, cutting tomatoes, marinating portobello mushrooms, and arranging chocolate chips and marshmallows on a soon-to-be grilled banana.
Along with five other kids and their parents, we were trying out a Sticky Fingers cooking class, a school run by three women in Denver. Their tagline is “Cultivating Culinary Curiosity in Kids” and their concept is wonderful and so much fun. The recipes are geared toward little people, understanding their interests and tastes. We cook often at home with the kids, but we are even more inspired by Sticky Fingers’ philosophy, their use of healthy, unprocessed ingredients, and their focus on teaching children good eating and cooking skills when they are young.
We all had such a great time that afternoon, laughing as our kids snuck pieces of mint to chew on and super-enthusiastically stirred a sauce. Check out their web site at www.stickyfingerscooking.com!
